As member of the world’s largest industrial gas manufacturer together with more than 60 branches in 34 countries, Messer Vietnam has begun to invest in its 4th plant in Dong Van 1 Industrial Zone (Ha Nam) that costs more than USD 2 million and covers nearly 4000 m2. The plant will be a natural gas separation and liquefaction plant that will provide nitrogen and liquid nitrogen to industrial plants in the North with a capacity of 2000m3 of nitrogen per hour. In order for the largest and most modern Messer plant, Ha Nam plant, to operate continuously, stably, and safely, the whole electrical system will be provided with Sivacon S8 low-voltage switchboards designed, manufactured, installed, guaranteed, and serviced by Hawee P&T.

Sivacon S8 – Smart switchboard solution, meeting the requirements of synchronous operation and monitoring.

Sivacon S8 switchboard is a high-tech product researched on, developed, designed, and controlled in terms of quality by Siemens’ globally leading expert team with an aim to provide products that would maximize the benefits for Customers and to offer optimal solutions with a high degree of flexibility that would meet all requirements by Project Owners. Most smart compounds and production lines in modern plants nowadays are automated and digitized, and therefore require the use of smart, flexible, and highly adaptive power distribution systems. Sivacon S8 low-voltage switchboard sets the standards for switchboards/motor control centers that are used for industrial applications or in construction works. Fully furnished with smart control, switching, and protection equipment, Sivacon S8 low-voltage switchboard is designed to meet today’s digital challenges. Sivacon S8 low-voltage switchboard is also equipped with communication solutions on its molded case circuit breakers (with a draw-out design), ensuring communication throughout the whole system.

Safety – top-priority standard.

Any minor error in supplying power at an industrial plant can cause serious consequences, affecting not only the plant’s operation, but also the people working there. Therefore, in addition to safety and reliability for power sources and electrical systems, life safety is taken seriously; safety is considered the top-priority standard and is highly focused on in each of Hawee’s switchboard designs.

An internal arc fault occurring in the switchboard may cause injury to the operator and serious damage to the switchboard/equipment, resulting in downtime and outage, which in turn results in high cost. This fault can occur even in a modern switchboard when a foreign object or animal enters the switchboard or when improper operation occurs. Within a few milliseconds, the internal arc releases high energy, resulting in extremely high temperatures, pressure waves, and toxic gases. Sivacon S8 switchboard provides control, preventive, and protective solutions (e.g., using high-quality insulation for conductive parts (busbar), ensuring simple and uniform operation, combining operations protection features with reliable sizes) that help prevent internal arc faults, thus minimizing the risk of injury to the operator. Moreover, Sivacon S8 switchboard is equipped with passive and active protection solutions to help limit the impact of internal arc faults, including an arc-resistant hinge/locking system, safe operation of draw-out type equipment/circuit-breakers behind closed wings, protective/control solutions for the air vents in the front, and arc guards.

Sivacon S8 switchboard is also equipped with an active protection system against internal arc faults including a sensor, a detection system, and arc extinguishing device. If an internal arc fault is detected, the assessment function will activate the arc extinguishing device within a microsecond. The system significantly limits arc flash duration, pressure waves, and temperature increases and thus minimizes the risk of injury during operation and maintenance as well as damage to the switchboard itself.

 

Extended protection solutions against internal arc faults in Sivacon S8 switchboard increases safety for the operator and the switchboard itself

Each batch of switchboards manufactured by Hawee is inspected and tested before being handed over and installed for the relevant project. The testing of Sivacon S8 low-voltage switchboard under arc conditions is a special testing process in accordance with the IEC/TR 61641 standard that has been applied globally by Siemens. In addition, Sivacon S8 switchboard undergoes specific tests according to AS/NZS 3439 standard for operator safety under arc conditions. All of these processes are complied with and closely monitored (in each stage) by Hawee so as to deliver modern, smart, highly safe, and highly reliable products for electrical systems and operators, meeting all requirements by Customers in this era of modernization and automation.
